Before I talk about this years workshop, I just want to pass along some of my thoughts....
Once the internet got a foothold in our everyday lives, information became king. Before the net (which was 1200? baud dialup!) Information had to be obtained through books and magazines! Imagine that today!
The reason I mention this is because as I went to the NAMES show (model engineering)in Michigan, I saw my very first small cnc!!!
There were even lectures on cnc and ball screws given by Don Fergal. It made such an impact on me I still remember his name today!
I was beside myself, knowing I could never build or have one of those cool machines! Over the next few years with the net I learned and built (with my share of mistakes for sure) my Rickomatic!
Over the years the cnc crowd along with the EMC guys grew in size at the NAMES show. This Yahoo group, which although I am not sure, may have been one of the very first hobby cnc ever on Yahoo was born from the guys at that show!
With such great resources such as this group site and with the internet growing in leaps and bounds more hobby cnc became available to everybody everywhere! So, I guess in my long winded approach, I am just trying to say the simple phrase "Thank you all" Rick
Ok, flash forward to the present...... (sound effect- wooooosh...)
Just wanted to remind everybody the Wockshop is still alive and kicking in Michigan!
Just a reminder that the cnc-workshop is only 3 weeks away! This is a continuation of Roland Friestad's cncworkshop which was held in Galesburg IL. for many years. After being unable to continue the workshops, Village press (digital machinist, Home shop machinist, projects in metal...) decided that is was important enough to continue the tradition! Being held in Michigan for the first time (and a lot closer to my home!) it should be a great event! Check out the Digital machinist bbs for lots of info and where to stay.

And, for a more social site go to the Yahoo group site. This is a site for info about the show as well as a great place to ask questions that the Digital site may not have. Most of the seminar speakers and vendors are on this site, so feel free to ask questions about the workshop!

Should be a great to have the workshop back!
See ya there! Rick Rickomatic
