Couple things to add...
Sometimes I can go days or even weeks without any drifting. Other times,
it'll drift off .010-.020 in a matter of 10-15 minutes.
Also, I've shut down everything in the area outside of the rotary phase
converter and overhead fluorescent lights.
2 years ago, the mill was in another location in the shop where the
drive cabinet was about 10 feet from the converter and the closest AC
power was the spindle motor of the mill. But since it will drift
overnight when the RPC and lights are off and the computer is at the DOS
prompt, it tends to point to the drive itself, me thinks.
Just looked at eBay, and there's quite a few available, so going to bag
one, be nice to have a spare in any case...
Last, if some ferrite torroids might help, any thoughts on size and
source for just a couple?
Thanks,
Jon
