RE: [CAD_CAM_EDM_DRO] Need schematic for old Glentek Servo amp

Check to see if this drive has a relay and resistor in the power supply
section. If I am not confusing this with another drive, it has a very large
capacitor in the power supply and if placed directly across the mains it
initially appears as a dead short shooting the fuse. To limit the inrush
there is a current limit resistor in the line in front of the capacitor.
After a brief time a relay closes a set of contacts around the resistor
effectively taking it out of line.



There were two problems with this system, if the relay failed to close the
contacts the machine would try to run thru the resistor and burn it out
after leaving a heat spot on the case. The other issue was the contacts
sticking and the inrush takes out the fuse.



Thinking more, I may be confusing this with a Getty's drive of that period.

Hello,

This is my first post on this group.
I have a 1984 Alliant mill that came with a Anilam crusader II controller. I
am in the S L O W process again of converting to EMC2.
For some reason the Y. axis servo amp. will blow a fuse as soon as it is
energized, even with no load, or wires connected.
I was wondering if anyone in this group might have the schematics for a
GA4561-8 servo amp.
I am not experienced enough and electronics to sort this out for myself, but
I have a good friend that is. Without looking at it yet, he said most likely
it's an easy fix but having a schematic would cut the troubleshooting time
way down.

I would totally appreciate any help
