My 2 cents.....Search for a program called CamBam...I think it's free, never used it but hear great things about it.
I use high end SOLIDWORKS based cam packages at work so I don't have a need for something like this. Learn basic Gcode...Not that hard... you'd be surprised at what you can do with it
If you want to design components then even a simple CAD package is almost essential. Search "Free CAD software".
Quite a bit to choose from.

Appreciate the input so far. My OS is an XP3 32 bit ... I presume that the Fusion 360 will not work. For example ... I came across some free G -Codes De Armond Tool has posted on his site, With instructions :) to give you an idea where I'm at, at this time. Very nicely done as need something like this .... step by step - hands on approach! Thank you for taking the time to assist with this matter as I have a long learning curve ahead,  PM
