Whew! Alan, you came closest to making me wanna "get in there" on this
"single-point ground" topic, but, no, I will resist! Been there, done that,
etc. There is lotsa good intent, here, but several "of us" have it kinda
"all-wrong", and, well, I repeat: I ain't gonna touch it!

OK, I will say this: The use of a reasonable degree of common-sense,
WELL-soldered or "bolted" electrical joints, careful workmanship in general,
etc., will usually preclude need for such thoughts as, "Should I have run
this green wire back to the building's steel structure, and if so, which
piece?" I have built a number of "stepper-motor CNC machines", and not ONE
has had any "noise problems"! But I guess I DID notice the infrequent
"glitching" on the home-brew lathe in the mid-eighties, and I installed one
of those little "soldered-shut metal boxes with an IEC socket on one side,
and a 'grounding bolt' on that box", and problem went away! Seems an
electric water-heater nearby was doing it when it "came on"!!! __it happens!
