DRO-101: SPC for CNC?

Hi:
Been following along here for the past few months (as best I can) and
had a really basic Q about this stuff.
I note that Shars and a few others are now selling inexpensive DRO
readout scales and such that offer SPC output. Are there any simple ways
to take this output and display it on a PC screen? Further, is there any
way to use it to provide data to a PC for CNC operations? I was looking
at pouting these on between 1-4 axis on my little Clausing mill and
hoping that they would provide for flexible displays and for a possible
CNC upgrade later. Something tells me that it cant be that simple but I
figure that it is worth a try.
