Hi,

I was at Ian Eagland's workshop on the 21st August buying some ball-screws
off him. He has quite a pile of them if anyone in England is interested, he
didn't want to advertise them onlist because he is commercial. Any way this
is off the subject. He is the agent for Ahha software and has a few machines
set up to use it along with the drives from gecko. One of these machines was
a lathe which had an encoder on the spindle and a stepper driving the
lead-screw. I asked about threading, he said that Ahha supports it and this
lathe was set-up to do it.

There is no need to drive the spindle with another motor just link an
encoder to it and use the power of the lathe. There would be no need to
write a program with this set-up

Ian is the one to talk to and I'm sure if you emailed him direct he would be
happy to answer your questions.

Regards,

Terry
