Lathe Retro/Mircokinetics Demo

I visited Microkinetics' facility today for a demo of their stuff.

Had a brief overview of the software and components available with
one of their engineers. They sell components or complete systems.

Later they demonstrated the controls on a lathe and we toured the
shop.

I was concerned with the accuracy of an open loop system, but they
offer a closed (encoder) that can be added later.

All-in-all I was fairly impressed with the working end, but I'm not
sure about the software. They gave me a copy of the software and a
manual but I haven't gotten very far. Had some trouble with the
software reconizing the mouse and my computer kept going to the
Windows DOS shell. Could be a short between the operator and the
keyboard though.

As I try to "learn" the software I'll keep you posted.

I'm looking into a retrofit on an Atlas 10" lathe.
