Flux vector drives...

Group,
Anyone have experience with flux vector drives? I'm thinking of
getting one to add spindle indexing to my lathe (my Fagor control
supports indexing).
Any problems, or thoughts on them?
Sources? The guy at Automation Direct didn't know what they are so I
assume they don't handle them. The ones I've priced aren't cheap, it
was something like $3000 including the 3hp motor/w encoder and
cabling. These may be items that haven't hit the discount/surplus
market yet.
For those that don't know, a flux vector drive is a VFD with closed
loop position feedback on the driven motor. I know of one
application where a flux vector drive is being used in place of a
servo motor on a large multi-axis planer mill. I think Fadal and
Haas offer vector drives on their spindle motors.
thanks,
Doug
