Newbe...sorta

I have been reading the group for over a month. I have a project
where I am starting a CNC plasma machine. I am an EE and computer
guy with some background in the design of power supplies (switching
and linear)and even spent some time repairing larger CNC mills and
punch presses (Hurco, Strippit, etc) many years ago. I am lucky in
that I have a large shop with wood and metal working tools, plenty of
hand tools and best of all an understanding wife. While I have spent
the last 15 years in the computer business, my love is designing and
building things. I live outside a small town about 50 miles north of
Dallas and am probably the only person around with a 5 machine NT
network. While I have worked with several different operating
systems including UNIX and spent the last three years doing software
development in a Windows environment, I feel there are a lot of you
guys more experienced than me on the CNC stuff.

I don't spend a lot of time in discussion groups. Just two: the
Gravely Tractor one and this one. Lots of good information. Keep it
up!
