The Amiga 1000 had a FULLY pre-emptive multi-tasking OS which ran on
ONE 1.4m Floppy!!! In 1985!!! Screen 640x400x4096 colors whan the
rest of the world had 320x200x16!
Also Voice synthesizer. I used to have it read my documents to me.
Amiga was purchased by Commodore, who never seemed to "get" what they
had, and their poor marketing essentially killed it. They still
exist, and can be found in "video" and "animation" usage. NewTek's
video toaster WAS an AMIGA disguised as a powerful video
editor/char.generator. Yous still see Amigas used on cable channel
"directories"
