Head counterbalance, Version 2

on 2000-10-25 00:03:50 UTC
I've uploaded a few pictures and drawings to the files folder

http://www.egroups.com/files/sherline/Counterbalance+springs%2C+take+2/

showing the completed second version counterbalance.

Again, I used "on-hand" bearings for this one, in this case .500 OD x .187
ID radial ball bearings.

The parts I didn't draw are the spring retainer pins -- .187 DIA x .250 L
pin with .625 DIA x .040 L flange, and the bearing axle -- .187 DIA x 2.50
L, with the last 1/8" threaded 6-32.

I hope this is of help to someone. The next step is to make a new
sheet-metal bracket to put the spindle motor behind the column, a la
Alvero's design. Then to buy the Sherline CNC mounting kit (I like the
preloaded bearing design) and put on some motors. Then a power supply,
then... :-)

Best regards,

Randy
