Hi All
Talking with John Stevenson kind of revived an old wish to use some of the equipment that I already own to automate my
lathe. I am just on the verge of solving my pending lathe conversion project by simply throwing enough money at it. The plan was
to buy Gecko 7 amp stepper drives (that's done) and, based on what was said here, buy the Ah Ha level 3 Artisan software with the
threading option (that's just about a wrap)
Now the problem that I am having is that Ah Ha sells an interface card that is used in conjunction with it's software, most
of the other software (within my price range) uses just the printer port. Well I have a complete Sciemetric 200 control unit that
consists of a No 802 interface card with 50 conductor cable to an enclosure housing a No 203 dual axis stepper motor controller
card and a No 240 8 channel digital counter module. So If I simply add the steppers and drivers and a spindle encoder (which I
have) I would have all the control hardware I would need for my lathe. The problem is the software. How could I ever get the
software needed to control it all, other then to write it myself?
I have what they call the level one driver codes in quick basic for this system (and all the documentation) but it has been years
and years since I wrote any complicated code and even then I never wrote code to control steppers . So I doubt I could write this by
myself. Is it possible to get the source code for such a program? There,,,,, that's the question that's taken three paras to ask.
