Hi,

I have machines with taper, angular contact and plain bearings on the
spindles and lead-screws. There are benefits to using angular contacts over
tapers in that the amount of space required is less and pre-loading the
bearings is much more consistent with angular contacts. The benefits of
tapers is in the greater axial forces that can be applied to the spindle.
