Now you know why there are so many trying "alternatives"! :-)

First, look into the "some sizes are cheap" method.
Then try the "some mfrs./distributors are cheaper" method.

If these fail to meet your needs, you have to either bite the bullet,
or go explore some of the options of this thread.

Keep in mind that to a BEARING distributor, these are "specialty"
Items. But to a leadscrew supplier, these are the "norm". May find
some deals if you look around. And do look in the surplus arena, if
you can.

BTW, the "shimming" is not that difficult. But if you are talking big
machine, big loads, do it right. "bite here, please... This won't
hurt a bit"
