Alan,
I did some testing with the G320 and the 1000 slot Goldmine motors driven
with EMC. The results were less than encouraging. It was from discussions
with Mariss concerning this and the desire to be able to use any encoder on
hand that lead to his creating the G340. Use the G340 and it will work
great. Otherwise use a 200 - 400 slot encoder and a G320. This is assuming
you are using a 2:1 belt reduction and ball screws.
