Thanks...I never knew about that command before. I tried it and it works..but doesn't work too! It said there was nothing wrong with any of my files. However, when I get a power failure that shuts down the computer, SCANDISK starts up and tells me it found a file with an illegal long file extension. Doesn't tell me what the file is or where it's at. I just hit OK and the system starts normally. I suspect the bad file has something to do with shut down tho' as when I shut down the syste powers down but leaves the monitor on with a strange looking green screen with "snow" bands running horizontally across it.

In Windows go to Start/Run/type SFC ( system file check) It will often find a
corrupted file and will restore it for you, if you can figure out for sure
what program the file is in. I always try the Windows disk first.
Right now I have a file SYNPFCS.dll that is corrupted, but can't identify
what program it is in.
