Derek,
The machine at the link you posted is not the same machine
I have seen in the harbor frt. stores. As Tim sez, IT's TINY! The
larger ones (in the stores) are a MAGNITUDE of difference(downwards)
from both the shoptask and smithy. Smoke mentions the lack of
response these SMALL co.'s give. Remember that it is easy to appear
much bigger than you really are these days. They may be mom n pop (or
just mom!) operations!
The shoptask is more of a bolt 'n go. The smithy is playing catch up
(in cnc). Last smithy I saw had a ways to go, but that was a while
ago. Both will work. Unless I needed the larger smithy size(s) I'd go
with shoptask. They ARE the original, and have been CNC-able for some
time.
I don't have any experience with the grizzly 3 in 1, but their other
tools are mid to high grade "import" quality.
As I have said before, IMO these tools are all "kits". You have a set
of decent basic parts, THROWN together ASAP. Take 'em apart, do the
finish and assembly work that is already done FOR YOU on more
expensive tools, and they are a good thing. Put some REAL fasteners
in, while you are at it...
Hope this helps.
