Joe,
Jan has given you some good info. Keep in mind he has used the older
style BSA nuts which "load" the screw much more than the newer "cam"
and "kerk" style.
Also remember that if you use EMC for control, you can compensate for
leadscrew inaccuracies. Same with linear scales.
And you'll preserve the "not-back-drive-able" nature of the machine
tool.
