Jon,
I see that little Escap on the H&R web page. How do you tune its
installation so that it delivers the desired (in my case) 7VDC per
1000 rpm? By drive pulley sizing, a potentiometer on the output, and
what if the voltage output is non-linear in RPM?

I have found a nice Escap DC motor at Herbach & Rademan that
makes a perfectly fine DC tach, for $7.95
Escap and Maxon make their tachs with the same internal design
as their smallest motors. I drove my tachs with a Berg toothed belt
with a fine steel cable inside. it works very well.
