If things go really bad, the watchdog on the STG card will timeout
in a couple of milliseconds and cause an E-stop. If the DACs get
sent a sudden full-throttle command, the servo amps will get an
overcurrent and trip offline, causing an E-stop, too. If the
following error gets too big, it will cause an E-stop.

I have the E-stop set up to disconnect the DC power supply from the
servo amps, and connect an energy dump resistor to the amps, to
rapidly decelerate the motors.

There are manual E-stop buttons, too.
