The "right hand" in Right Hand Rule is probably a human factors thing, as I
learned during my first physics exam in college. All my calculations were
correct, yet the answers were intuitively backward. I looked at my hand,
checked my work, looked at my hand again, checked my work again - still
backward. I looked up and noticed the instructor trying to hold back the
laughter. I had my pencil in my right hand and was using the left hand for
determining the axes. For some reason, there is a tendency to go clockwise
when using the left hand and that was my problem.
Another reason for using the right hand is that the big finger represents
the B field and the "fumb" represents the F field (or something like that -
it was a long time ago) in electromagnetic stuff. It would be reversed on
the left hand.
