Cutter head loads....anyone?...anyone?

Ron,

Wow! Good question.

First thought is to call some tooling mfr's and ask. They oughta
know. It'll prob'ly take awhile to get to the "right" guy...

Second, You could determine this empirically. I actually did this
with an early machine, using a wood working router as the spindle.
Used a "fish scale" to pull it through some cuts while steadying with
the other hand. Don't think I'd do it in steel! But...

If you know the torque output of your stepper or servo(at given
speeds/amps) you COULD apply some math to some "amp limited"
cutting... Like I said, It's the SECOND choice :-)

Third, you could make some "educated guesses" based on the motors
chosen for the machines on this list, and machine tools in general
(powerfeeds and the like, not just cnc) Probably look at
the "cheaper" tools when doing this, they are more likely to be "just
gettin' by".

Hope this helps.
