Just to say something!

Hi,
For a while ago, - I think someone mentioned a web site for this
"group" ? Is there ?
As for cad software and stuff, - I am flooded at the moment, but
thank you all for directions and comments.
---------- Here I just come with some comments
----------------------
Pic Servos:
I am trying to grasp the idea with the EMC software, - it's not
just to have something nice for us, but the main purpose is to work
out and test an open control architecture. ( as I understand this )
Most of the "picservos" have their own trajectory planner, PID
filters, and stuff. Many use the serial port. To try to run these
with EMC, - is a contradiction, and I believe it would just mess up
things.
"Dumb board", like ServoToGo is very nice, because it has a very
clean interface. You can easy install other boards. Dan's DRO
board need only a DAC to be equal. It's simple. You don't even need
that. You could add a DAC external to the printer port, and there is
also lots of ADC/DAC boards around. ( you could even connect
resistors to the parport, and have your own simple dac )
The only thing the ServoToGo board has, compared to ordinary io
boards, is the interface for encoders, ( as Dan has put on his board
). Well, it has a lot more, like timers and stuff, but they have not
used these in the EMC software - ( maybe for our sake ? You don't
get dependent on one vendor )
As for the printer port, - this is also easy to extend to more jobs,
or more steppers, or what ever.
I have the ServoToGo board - it has a lot of nice features. In my
opinion, it's worth the money, compared to all the time it would
take to write your own software. I chose it because I would like to
test EMC features, and to stay with something that should give me
the same results as what they get at NIST. I have plenty of work
just to master linux.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
1.
Does anyone have some schematics on servo-amps, or links to
someplace I might find anything. I am trying to work out something .
2.
If Fred is listning: I have subscribed to nist@onelist.com . Why
not send messages about emc to the same place ? Then it would be
easy to know when software changes occur. Or ?
