Arne,
Your entire message is spot on.
If I may add my bit:
We have previously discussed here the pros and cons of the Pic Servo and for
EMC the cons had it, the pros where very few.
I do not believe that anyone who is serious about a good CNC setup should go
this route and certainly those that do want to, should appreciate that what
they need is a G-code to PIC Servo interpreter / driver and not EMC. That
would then put it squarely as a project for Mr Kerr and not Mr Proctor!
The servo, stepper / DRO operations are far from finished and still need
considerable work and debugging and the programmers should not be distracted
from that elementary task with something that will only ever be used by a
very small number of people who want to save a some dollars (most of whom,
after frustration would probably shelve the setup for something better
anyway). Glad to see that Andy Olney is thinking along other lines now ,
such as Dans Driver with DRO.
