The goals of a 'black box' are many:

1) Increase accuracy of the pulse train over what PC only software
(like DeskNC) can do. This allows for faster, more reliable motion.

2) Reduce the 'overhead' within the PC. This allows developers to
put "more" functionality into their products, more easily.

3) Increase the I/O capabilities over the 8 data, 5 status, and 4
control bits (17 total) of the PC parallel port.

4) Make it easier for programmers to "write" their own CNC control
S/W. Allowing you to write features you wish DeskNC had by making it
easier to create your own program.

5) Create a 'standard' interface for CNC in the hopes that many will
support it. Which will give us more choices in the marketplace.

6) Reduce the dependency on the OS (operating system). Similar to #2,
but here I'm talking about the possibility of using a MAC computer to
do motion control.

7) ???

Hope this helps.
