Re:Smart Box / Dumb Box

I like what I see being developed here. It looks like there will be systems
that you can set up with a dumb board and steppers. When your budget allows,
you can expand it to servos with a smart board. I know from personal
experience that it can be expensive to design electronic hardware when your
not an expert. I have made mistakes and they have cost me more to fix that
it would have cost to originally buy the pre-made boards. The worst thing
about rolling your own some times is that you end up smoking them :-) I
know from my abilities it is better for me to buy the electronics from an
expert.

I am waiting to see what Marris comes up with here. I know from looking at
all the servo controllers out there that his are some of the most reasonably
priced units available. I plan to use them at work for a laser engraving
system I am putting together. The software is designed for steppers but my
boss likes servos, so with his equipment I can achieve the desired results.

Now that there is a modular system in the design stages I can't wait to see
how it turns out. I know for my home projects this is the way I would like
to go. The ability to upgrade and modify the hardware as my needs (budget)
change is ideal.
