Single point threading...that's a new term for me...what is it?
I take it you want to do "manual threading" as well as CNC threading.
How you accomplish both on the machine depends on both the design of your
original lead screw installation AND how you install the ball screw.
If you don't need "quick change" between the two systems, you could mount
the ball screw on the rear. Connect the ball screw nut to the saddle via a
removeable bracket. Mount the ends of the ball screw in removable brackets
as well and provide a sheer pin or a slip fit coupling for the drive motor.
If you have a simple sheer pin connection on the lathe as mine does, you can
remove the sheer pin, unbolt the brackets at the end of the feed screw and
pull the screw out of the saddle.
Reverse the process to return to standard lathe operation.
