marvle mistory oil.I've tried it and it seems to work well although it does
seem to be a bit thin. Also it does have a smell but I do not think that it
is a bad smell.

I just went out to the shop and took a sniff of Marvel Air Tool Oil. It has
a definite camphor smell - rather pleasant. Could be to hide the original
odor or perhaps there is some rust inhibiting effect. I have used this
stuff for 27 years and one die grinder is 23 years old - still running.

The biggest enemy of air turbines seems to be moisture in the line. This
combined with heavy lubricating oils quickly forms thick goo that slows down
the turbine and heats up the bearings. Leaving the tool with moisture in it
will also rust it up inside. Gast air motors are particularly prone to
failure from moisture.

One of my clients uses ATF in all their pneumatic equipment. Given the size
of the operation and their willingness to spend I suspect they have studied
this carefully. Can't remember whether it was Dextron or type F but I can
find out if someone is interested.
