One human, working hard, can easily produce one Hp for a couple of
minutes. That's why one HP is no problem for a horse to put out all day.
I certainly can't stop MY lathe or mill on any speed with my hand! I had
a Bridgeport M head with 1/2 Hp motor, running on a "phase converter".
I COULD stop that on the higher speeds, but that motor just DIDN'T like
running on single phase power!
