Subject: Navel Jelly and washoff recommendations.
Did I screw up???
Is navel jelly acceptible for ways? It worked wonderfully,at first
but I'm worried about flash rust afterwards. I sprayed WD-40 on all
treated surfaces afterward, then smeared on way oil. 1 day after, I
noticed a light orange hue in spots of the oil that easily wiped off.
It seems that hosing with water is the recommended way of removing
the jelly after treatment, but I dont want to get the mill ways wet.
Especially in portions of the ways that are not availible(exposed)for
me to clean.
Panicing, I rubbed on baking soda and light spindle oil afterwards,
to neutralized the acids left from the navel jelly.
I used some navel jelly on sections of the ways of my mill and I was
worried about using alot of water to wash it off. I used a wet cloth
to wipe it off then immediatly dried with papertowels, then I sprayed
with a silicone based lubricant, and later smeared way oil over
everything.
Thanks in advance for any tips or experience.
