From what I have been told by the trainer from Zeiss is that their piezio
probe works as a strain gauge. When the probe first touches the part the
crystal produces a signal the probe continues its motion until the probes
switch changes state. If this occurs within certain parameters the position
where the crystal signaled is considered a good position. I'm sure it isn't
all that easy but that is what I remember.
