Hi Bill,

One place I've acquired small piezos from is record player stylus'. I bought
several a while back from a surplus electronics shop at 20p (about 32 cents)
each. They were the simple type found on cheap record players but the piezos
were good enough for my needs. I used a couple of them to make microphones
for listening to the tick of watches and clocks and inputting the sounds
into a computer program for analysis. I just tethered one end of the piezo
to a block on the clip/mounting with epoxy and when the clip is fastened to
a watch or clock, the vibration of the free end is enough to produce a good
signal. These piezos are usually in the form of a small rectangular rod,
maybe 1/2" x 1/32" x 1/64".
