Don't fight with a chopper power supply.
A almost free power supply is a rewound microwave transformer.
Microwaves are thrown away daily. Very seldom is the transformer bad.
You have a 700 to 900 watt 115 volt primary.
Cut out the high voltage coil.
It is much bigger than the 115 coil.
Rewind the secondary for whatever voltage you need.
Several transformers I rewound at 1 turn per volt.
At 24 volts rms at 700 watt input, you get 30 amps on the output.
Put a big bridge rectifier on the secondary.
Hang the biggest capacitors you can find on the output.
You can drive Mabel to the moon! For about $10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, if you need isolated 5 volts for control circuits, you can wind
separate windings for control or high side drivers for your FET bridges.
The price is right!
