I used GE 1/8 Hp (continuous rating) servo motors, with the 1/8 Hp measured
at 1725 RPM, a very good match for what I was doing. The belt ratio was
2.5 : 1, and I left it there. This was the axis drive arrangement on an
Excellon PC board drilling machine. I added DC tachometers and replaced
the resolver with a shaft encoder. I had 2 of these axis drives.

Oh, don't worry about the part number, these are 30+ year old motors, and
GE would charge you $1500 at least, because they'd assume you needed
it for an $80,000 PCB drill that went down!

I designed and built my own servo amps, because I didn't know what was
available out there. They work very well, but I could have saved a year,
and bought Copley servo amps for what I paid in parts.
