Joe, one of the members of our Vcarvz development team was just
jumping up & down at the great job that Adobe Streamline did on some
scanned images that he is tring to vectorize for chipcarving. At
$200 it is kind of pricey, but he told me that Amazon.com is selling
it for only $125.00 There is a demo at Adobe's site, but it doesn't
save.

You may also want to check out Wintopo. There is a freeware version
and another with more bells and whistles.

Also our Stltrans has some capabilities along this line. There is a
30 day working demo at our web site.

Another one that I have recently found is Rastervec. At $80 it may be
suitable also, but I have not had a chance to try it.
