I'm afraid not. I guessed that was what would be needed to fix the
spindle!
I have already talked to Sherline about some other upgrades:
" You can upgrade your model 527-21411 (equivalent to 5000) by adding a
new
12" base and "Y"-axis screw for $135. A new motor & speed control
upgrade
runs $175. You can send your machine in for us to upgrade or you can do
it
yourself. We charge $40/hour labor; it generally takes 1/2 hour. I'd
say
it may be worth the $20 to have us upgrade it as we could make sure all
the
brass inserts were in good shape and if a new gib is required for the
mill
base we'd have it here already. "
Which I am considering. Probably only cost a few more for the spindle
fix.
Keeping this mill, and buying a NEW one is a possible option. I'll have
to get busy, and get some contracts going!
