Not a bad idea (for a real small hbby machine)...except...by driving the
spindle directly, you eliminate the possibility of driving the spindle
faster than the motor will rotate or the increased torque you can get thru
various pulley combinations. Also, can you derive 3 or 5 horsepower from
one of those motors
