There's a package called Majordomo that handles the construction &
maintenance of mailing lists - including an archiving function. Runs on
Unix & as far as I know is either freeware or inexpensive. Some of the
mailing lists that I subscribe to for business purposes use it. No idea
where to obtain it from though.
