You may want to look at my motor mounts that I used on my mill/drill. They
are rectangular tubing that provides for a belt guard and mounting to the
machine ( sorry no drawings). I used that for both stepper motors and servo
motors. See my web page at www.seanet.com/~dmauch look at the Images. I
believe it is the last one. I have the mill drill running at 180 IPM using a
2/1 ratio XL series timing belt and pulleys. I have converted it to
ballscrews and servos. I get 180 IPM with Maxnc on a 486-66 .
I am most proud of solving the mil/drill quill backlash problem without
having to put an external ballscrew on the quill. My x-y axis have about
.002 backlash and the last time I checked it the quill had .0019 backlash.
I was going to come out with a retrofit kit for the XY conversion to
ballscrews and the quill fix but there was only one or two guys interested.
So I drop the project.
