Peter, for starters take a look at the FAQ page. The URL is at the bottom of
this page. You will find a lot of information there. On the FAQ page there
is a list of URL/links that will take you to a large number of CNC
interesting stuff, and by following the links they list on there pages, you
will open up a world of information.
Then ask specific questions to the list, and I feel sure you will get help.
