Yes, I have been lurking as well. I have read most all the threads on
Linux and the problems that most list members have experienced and I
have come to the conclusion that I will not install Linux until this is
more stable for the inexperienced person to install and we have more
patches or kernels for the newer versions.

I will have to resolve to to the "Gates" based products for now. I
wanted to install Linux, but I can not afford to be down at all while I
try to have many of the helpful list members here help solve problems if
they were to occur.

Other than that, I am putting together one of Dave Rigotti's controller
boards and it is a very nice piece of kit thus far. Everything is in
fine order and well explained, even for me. Elsewhere, I am constructing
two CO2 lasers to add to the machines here, a 50-60W and a 20-30W. These
lasers will be home-built units as I have found that this will be the
more productive route for me to go, believe it or not.
