I just got in two of the 4 servo motors for the gantry machine in today. I
waited till the last minute in the hopes of finding a deal better than
$600-800 new baldors. I did find a deal, but the motor paramerters are more
suited to a 2:1 reduction on my machine for y and z. These are Magmotor
C33-200 dc
brush servos and look very very nice.
I followed the timing belt thread and am sold on GT2 belts.
Right now I am printing the gates catalog gt2 section out and
they mention the superior registration of that type. But how
superior? I cannot find any registration specs for their pulley/
belt combinations. I know there are a few variables involved
but they out to have something. I need to see if I should pull the included
drc encoders from the motor and put them on the screw. If I can hold about
20 arc minutes on the pulley/belt
combination I can just leave the encoder on the motor and
bolt it on and power up. That would be about .006" on a 2" pulley.
I have yet to find power capacities for the belts either... but I am still
looking.
Does anyone have a gates catalog where they could check on this information?
Wading through their web site is agonizingly slow.
Thanks
