Yes, thanks. I'd love to see the photos....especially of your bracket for
the screw mount. You can email them to me at Smoke@... ... post
them too...I'm sure others would like to see them.
I assume (I haven't taken the column apart) the disk you mentioned replacing
is mounted somehow on top of the column?
Since I'll be making a lot of aluminum castings, (got all but one of the
patterns made for the DreamMachine) I'll make a casting for the top plate as
well as for the other lead screws rather than using bar stock.
I can cast it to suit and it will save a lot of machining time.
For what I'm doing here, I want to keep the rotation feature of the column.
By moving it to the right somewhat, I can make use of extra X travel. This
will cut down a bit on the useful Y travel but for one of my applications, I
won't need any Y travel at all...just lots of X and Z.
BTW...I got the newer design for the X lead screw worked out this evening.
Definitely not much clearance....about 1/16th or less between the new
bracket and the column base casting.
I've got the brackets designed for using type 34 stepper motors. The
catalog I have lists holding torques of 156, 312 and 469 oz in. I presume
(this is all still Swahilli to me) these are the motor ratings to look at
when choosing a motor size?
