They are not identical but very close. I had both the blue column off a
Maximat 10 and the green column off the FB-2. I think both have the same OD.
You are right, you can't get the ball screw through the existing leadscrew
hole in the slider block. I made a bracket that bolted on the back of the
block for the pre-loaded 5/8" nut. I scrapped the original top plate with the
three bolts going into the round column. made a new top plate from 3/4" X 3"
6061-T6 bar stock. I replaced the disk in the column with a heavier disk and
upped the number of bolts from 3 to six. If you are interested, I may have
some photo's of it before I scrapped it :(
