Hi Peter,
I built a small unit for writing on glass. The unit stuck
to the glass with four suction cups. The base was open so the Dremel
could go down through and hit the glass. I used a stepping motor and
screwrod on each side of the Y axis. After I lined up the motors they
stayed syncronized. If either motor goes out a couple steps the thing
will still operate. Your part will be off a little. Plotters use a
gear belt and pulley on both Y axis to keep them syncronized. The
motors get wired color to color.
