CNCPro vs FANUC

CNC experts on the list,

I am now fooling with a DOS based FANUCMD. This may be
a more professional CAM? software than the newer
window based "upstarts?" like flashcutcnc, but after
getting used to the easy dxf import, find this dos
based software a real bother. I was looking for
something similar like a G-code import, but no luck. I
was given a gcode program to load, but could not find
a way to do it directly. Finally, had to change the
file (notepad or wordpad) extension to 001.mcd before
FANUCMD can recognise the file. Could those who are
familiar with FANUC throw some light, and tell me if I
am approaching this correctly.

The file contained line no. N030 etc, which I think
FANUCMD does not recognise, because it came back with
the message "unrecognised command" or something, if I
remember correctly. And the gcode generated by the
bundled gcode generator Denford MillCAM Designer 2
contain no line number N10,N20, etc.

Thinking of starting a new thread too - FANUC vs
CNCPro, which I think? is also dos based?

Peter
