Exactly.

The cutter gets dull (steel) or clogs (aluminum) and jams into the work,
either stalling the motor or spinning the belts.

( Of course, I'VE never had this happen by miscalculating speeds and
feeds, but I've heard that this happens to other people. <G> )

In any case, a big load is put on the leadscrews by the motors, which sure
seems like a really bad thing to have happen.

If you're lucky, the cutter breaks, but until that time, you're doing evil
things to the precision parts of the machine.
