I'm selling my MaxNC mill, and thought I'd offer it here first, before
hitting eBay.
Thrust plates on all three axis using two ball bearings and adjustable
for preload, to relieve the stepper motors of thrust loads.
Lead screws are 16 pitch acme from Ball Screws and Actuators.
X and Y have ActiveCam antibacklash nuts. Z axis is still using nut I
cast in Moglice, but there is a brand new ActiveCam nut included for the
Z. Ends of X and Y screws are supported in ball bearing.
Stepper motors are Pacific Scientific 198 oz/in, couplers are helical.
Z axis uses constant force spring to help counterbalance load, and I
fitted a Sherline spindle and DC motor. Included is a Sherline drill
chuck, thread on end mill holders as follows: 1ea, 3/8; 1ea 1/4,
2ea, 3/16, 4ea, 1/8. Yes, 1/8, it was a custom order from Sherline.
Way covers protect both sides of the Y axis and lower Z axis.
Using custom pulleys, spindle is driven with stock Max belt and while I
haven't got a definite rpm, it's over 5000. Original belt, still VG.
There is a slight worn spot on the X table's way surface, this was first
observed a long time ago and has not gotten significantly worse.
Some misc steel Tee nuts and misc tooling will be included.

I'm asking $1400 for the mill. I have 4 CyberPak CY-41 half stepping
drivers, three already on heatsink. These will pull a max 3.5 amps.
Paid about $110 ea, will sell all four for $200.

There is no software. I switched from the Max setup to Ahha and the
CyberPak drivers. If someone wants to buy the whole package, I will
include free, the original Max drivers/motors. I can't find the original
Max software install disk, but will provide it copied directly on a
floppy. But there's enough software being used by members on this list I
suspect most would rather not mess with the Max stuff, and is a large
part of why I'm listing it here first.
Pictures will be posted to my website tomorrow, interested parties can
take a peek.
There are parts on some Boeing aircraft, and surgical prodcedures have
been performed on live humans with with parts made on this mill. It got
my business going, and I'm moving up the ladder. Would like to reclaim
the bench space it's been taking up. I check email frequently and can be
reached in the shop between 8:30 and 5:30 PST at 530-477-8690
