The RF-45 is available from Pyramid Machine Tools, Calgary,
Alberta, for the price of $3389 in Jan 1999. That's a little over
$2K US.

Steve,
Thanks, I checked about 15 search engines before I hit this listing; <A

here: GEARED HEAD SERIES
http://www.salesco.com/TOOLS/metal/drill/geared_head_series_a.htm</A>. You
are right, it is a bit more than $2000 but I think if the ISO 9002 QC mark is
any indication, it should be a nice machine. Might need ballscrews and motors
bigger than .631" and 300 in oz to get over 15 or 20 inches a minute. For
120" per minute travel, I suspect large NEMA 34 or the smaller end NEMA 42
would be needed in direct drive. To get better resolution, there may be a
need for a micro step driver? Most likely a servo system might do better in
this case. EMC/ Servo to go etc.
